Why should I get lead dust testing done?
Any home built prior to 1978 has risks of lead paint being used previously. We offer prompt service with a testing laboratory to help confirm if you have elevated levels of lead in your home which needs to be addressed. Additionally, many cities are now requiring landlords to get lead safe certificates in order to get their renters licensed and help provide a safe living space for tenants.
My home was fully remodeled, do I still need this?
If your home was fully renovated down to the studs, you can try to get a lead free certificate however the cost of this is astronomically higher due to the special equipment used to test this. Additionally, some cities change their rules on what's considered lead safe so you may need to redo this test even if you were deemed as lead free. We suggest the lead safe cert in this instance as the cost is much lower.
How long is a lead safe cert good for?
That will depend on your city. In the city of Philadelphia, it's currently good for 4 years as of June 2022.
What condition should my unit be in for testing?
Prior to testing, the paint in your unit MUST be in good condition with no major cracks or peeling paint. We must do a visual inspection first so if we see the above, we cannot perform testing until repaired as it would fail the visual check.
